Prize for Library Development to Turku City Library

The Library Developer of the Year prize 2011 goes to Turku City Library. The prize is awarded by Ministry of Education and Culture and amounts to 3000 euro.

In the jury’s motivation, Turku City Library is described as a functioning public space that is open, light, spacious and pleasant. Comprehensive Library services, a broad range of events and innovative development makes Turku City Library a lively participant in the everyday life of the citizens of Turku. The motivation also notices the digital development of the Regional Library, the nationwide Kirjasampo.fi web services, the recently accomplished Polar Night Weekend Event and the collaboration with the National Digital Library piloting a new public interface.
