ContextTurku's archivesThe City of Turku's Central Archive The City of Turku's Central Archive holds documents on the administration of the Turku from 1623 onwards. The archives for the City Council, the City Executive Board, and other boards and committees include the key documents of the municipal administration. The Central Archive also includes a number of private archives donated by the citizens of Turku. The Provincial Archives of Turku The district covered by the Provincial Archives of Turku contains the areas of the Regional Council of Southwest Finland and the Regional Council of Satakunta. The Provincial Archive stores records of government agencies and civil service departments below the level of central government. The Provincial Archives also store church and municipal archives, private archives and maintain copies of records. The Institute of Migration's Archive The Institute of Migration's archive preserves documents and material on migration, internal domestic migration and general information related to migration. Åbo Akademi's Library and Archives Åbo Akademi's library primarily preserves the archives of individuals, such as authors. The Finnish Economic Society archives are also maintained there. In addition, there are specialist archives for ethnology, folklore, art and church history, maritime history as well as the Sibelius Museum's archives.
