Rails, cycle paths, culture and moving through the centre of Turku

The Best Thing since the Great Fire of Turku?

Rails, cycle paths, culture and new business opportunities. A radiant life for Old Turku – that’s how the future centre of Turku looks in the Master Planning Office’s master plan "The Best Thing since the Great Fire".

Traffic planning

In a detailed plan, traffic planning refers to the planning of traffic arrangements for areas, i.e. streets, reserved for the use of motorised and non-motorised traffic. In the plan, it is decided on, for example, how much space and how many lanes will be reserved for motorised traffic, whether there will be separate ways for bicycle and pedestrian traffic, where to place pedestrian crossings and bus stops, etc. The plan about traffic arrangements (aka a traffic plan) is the base material when street plans and street building plans are being drawn up.

In its final form, a traffic plan is a plan map that in detail shows the ready street with traffic signs and other traffic control devices.
