Nationwide Statistics on Students

• Altogether 59 000 students start their formal education in the academic year 2011-12. It is estimated that the numbers will exceed 60 000 in 2013.
• The total number of students in grades 1-9 is 541 000. There are some 2 800 schools.
• In high schools there are 32 500 new students and 3 500 adult students. The total number of high-school students is 110 000, in 430 schools nationwide.
• Nearly 50 000 students begin their vocational studies. In vocational institutions there are 135 000 students. Furthermore, there are a number of people participating in apprenticeship and diploma screening programs. There are 215 institutions.
